From February 15 to 19, 2026, the vibrant grounds of the Karbi People's Hall and Rangsina Sarpo Ground in Taralangso came alive for the 52nd Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) — one of the oldest and largest ethnic festivals in Northeast India.
Organised by the Karbi Culture Society, the festival is a powerful celebration of Karbi heritage, bringing together 32 zonal camps from across Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, and neighbouring districts. The festival was formally inaugurated in the presence of Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, who reaffirmed the importance of preserving and promoting Karbi culture globally.

Showcasing equifarmtea Products at the Tea Board of India Stall
At the invitation of the Tea Board of India (TBI), equifarmtea presented its products at the TBI stall during the festival. Our Premium Karbi Artisanal Green Tea was also displayed and made available for tasting, offering visitors a firsthand experience of the delicate, handcrafted flavours emerging from Karbi Anglong.
The response was deeply encouraging. Festival attendees, including community leaders, youth, and cultural participants, engaged with curiosity and pride as they discovered tea grown and processed within their own region.
Tea-RWE Entrepreneurship: Women at the Heart of Innovation
The Tea-RWE (Rural Women Entrepreneurship) initiative is anchored within the broader Udyamini programme, a women-centred enterprise development model designed to enable rural women to become confident, skilled, and economically independent producers. Under Udyamini, entrepreneurship is not treated merely as income generation, but as a pathway to leadership, dignity, and long-term community transformation.
In Karbi Anglong, Udyamini supports women from small tea grower households to establish home-based green tea processing units. Through structured training, handholding, and adherence to standard operating procedures, women learn scientific yet artisanal methods of processing high-quality green tea from leaves cultivated without chemical application. The programme emphasises quality control, hygiene, consistency, packaging standards, and market readiness, ensuring that each participating woman becomes both a skilled processor and a responsible micro-entrepreneur.
Beyond technical skills, Udyamini fosters collective strength through cluster-based organisation. Women entrepreneurs work within supportive peer networks that encourage shared learning, problem-solving, and mutual accountability. This cluster approach resonates deeply with Karbi cultural values of family-backed enterprise, cooperation, and community solidarity.
Implemented by Transform Trade, with Grassroots Tea Corporation serving as the technical partner, Udyamini bridges grassroots production with wider market systems. It ensures that rural women are not isolated producers but integrated participants in a value chain that recognises their contribution, strengthens their bargaining power, and enhances their visibility within the tea sector.
Through Udyamini, Tea-RWE entrepreneurship becomes more than tea processing—it becomes a locally rooted, women-led movement for sustainable livelihoods and inclusive growth in Karbi Anglong.
